Tis the Season - Reporting Absences Reminder

It’s cold and flu season and we wanted to remind families that when you are reporting your child’s absence, please remember to give a reason for the absence. If it is due to illness, please provide symptoms. It is not enough to say they are “unwell” or “won’t be in.”  We are required to monitor student illness symptoms by Alberta Health. You may get a call-back for more information if reasons or symptoms are not provided. Thank  you for understanding.

OPPORTUNITY

Picture Retakes

Edge Photography will be at Glen Allan Friday morning for Picture Retakes. Any student who hasn't had their picture taken or wants a new picture will be invited to get their picture taken.

INFORMATION

Halloween at Glen Allan

Halloween is almost here and we are ready for some spooky fun! In order to make sure that this event is safe and fun for all here is what you can expect!

Halloween Assembly

Students and staff will gather to share our costumes during an afternoon Halloween Assembly on October 31. Students who want to showcase their costumes will have an opportunity to walk the "catwalk" during our assembly.

Halloween Costumes

Students are welcome to come dressed in their costumes for the day. Please help us out by making sure that costumes are not too scary/grotesque for our youngest students and that students leave weapons at home for their evening Trick-or-Treating! If a costume has a mask, students may wear it during the assembly but then take it off during the rest of the day!

We highly recommend avoiding costumes that are difficult to sit in, this includes inflatable costumes which are also fragile. Should students choose to wear these types of costumes, they may be asked to remove the costume or for inflatables, be in a deflated state during class.

Halloween Treats - Staying Safe

Students are invited to bring a personal treat on October 31. Please do not send treats for the whole class, we anticipate students collecting many treats Halloween evening.

Please remember that we are a Nut Aware school and students should not bring food items that contain nuts to school. This is make sure members of our school community are safe! Many of our students, as well as some of our staff, have severe nut allergies. Thank you for your cooperation in making sure everyone has a fun and safe Halloween!

School Bus Safety Week: October 21-25

Schools throughout Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) are celebrating School Bus Safety Week from October 21-25. The theme: ‘Bus Rule – Be Clever, Dress for the Weather,’ which focuses on how students should dress appropriately for weather conditions—especially when taking the bus. Students at Glen Allan practice bus safety year round. Already this year Grades 1-6 students have practiced bus-evacuations and our kindergarten students have participated in Little Elk Island Adventurers programming.
