Parent teacher conferences for families with students in grades 1-6 will be held October 23 and 24.

The booking system is open today Tuesday, October 15, and will close end-of-day Monday, October 21 .

  • Step 1: Go to https://www.glenallanelementary.ca/
  • Step 2: Click on the Menu Tab then click on Bookings OR in Quick Links- Conference Bookings
  • Step 3: “Register Now” for the Class your child is in
  • Step 4: Enter your details
  • Step 5: Choose your class and teacher
  • Step 6: Choose a time that works for you

If you have any trouble with the booking system or you wish to book an appointment with any other staff members besides your child’s homeroom teacher, please contact the school at 780-467-5519.

**Please note that the appointment times are scheduled 12 minutes apart, but the duration of each appointment is 10 minutes. This provides teachers time between appointments to prepare for their next interview.

** Kindergarten conferences will take place at the end of November. Kindergarten families will receive an email with booking information closer to the date.

Glen Allan School Council Meeting this Thursday!

The Glen Allan School Council is a wonderful way to be involved in your child's school community. We invite all our parents and caregivers to be involved in our Glen Allan School Council.

We would like to welcome and encourage you to join us for our October Glen Allan School Council (GASC) meeting on Thursday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are in-person, in our school library. OPPORTUNITY

Book Fair and Call for Volunteers

From October 21-25, we will have Scholastic Book Fair happening in our library.

We are still in need volunteers for our evening shop times:

  • Wednesday, October 23: 4:00 - 7:00 pm
  • Thursday, October 24: 4:00 - 7:00 pm

Volunteers would be helping students find what they're looking for, restocking items, and being a cashier for purchases. If you are interested in volunteering to help out during Book Fair, please email your availability to Mrs. Brownlee (Assistant Principal and Library Teacher) crystal.brownlee@eips.ca

The book fair will be open to parents from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on both conference evenings, October 23 and 24. This is an opportunity for parents to give the gift of reading!

Thanks you in advance for supporting the Glen Allan Library book fair. This is an important fundraiser for our library program.

INFORMATION

Evacuation Drill

In our ongoing efforts to keep you informed, we want to let you know that students and staff will participate in an evacuation drill on Thursday October 17.

An evacuation is used when it is unsafe to remain inside the building. In an evacuation, students and staff exit the building and gather at a designated location outside the school. In the event students and staff must remain outside for an extended period of time, they may move to our alternate indoor evacuation centre.

With safety as a top priority, we will continue to review emergency preparedness procedures with our staff and students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Fire Safety Week

It is once again Fire Prevention Week!! This year’s message is “Smoke alarms; make them work for you!”

Resources share by Strathcona County:

FIRST NATIONS, MÉTIS, AND INUIT INFORMATION

Forest Walks

Kindergarten students will participate in forest walks. These walks will allow children to connect with nature, learn about the land, and explore Indigenous perspectives on the environment. Through these outdoor experiences, students will learn about the importance of respecting and caring for the environment while also exploring the cultural teachings rooted in the land.
