April 7 BUZZ

Happy Monday!
With all the snow and melting happening, please consider sending a change of clothes with your children, as we have had a few slips and had students needing to change into a dry set.
Thank you!
It's a great week for a great week!

New Glen Allan Playground
We are so excited to share the design for the new playground. Construction is scheduled to begin the day after school is over for the summer; fingers crossed it is ready when school resumes in the fall. Thank you, thank you, thank you to our Glen Allan School Council (GASC) and to our school and greater community for making this happen! We are so excited!
Upcoming Promotional Video Filming at the School
Elk Island Public Schools is working with an external provider, Orange Fountain, to conduct a video shoot of staff and students for upcoming promotional video projects. Glen Allan Elementary has been selected as one of the filming locations—a film crew will visit the school on Wednesday, April 16.
Parents and caregivers of students in classes that’ve been asked to participate in the filming will be sent a consent form soon. You’ll receive the form through Permission Click, so keep an eye on your inbox! More details of what to expect will be included in the message sent with the form.
Get ready for kindergarten
Do you have a child registered in kindergarten next year? If so, make sure to attend Glen Allan's upcoming Kindergarten Information Night on Monday, May 12 5:00-6:00pm. You’ll get to:

Did you know? - EIPS Budgeting
EIPS prepares a budget in the spring based on projected enrolment, funding, estimated costs and Board of Trustees budget priorities. Before the Division can finalize its budget for the next school year, we need to wait for the provincial government to provide the funding manual for school authorities and EIPS’ funding profile. This year’s funding manual is expected to be released in early April and the funding profile should be available mid-March. EIPS plans to publish its spring budget in May. Learn more

Regulation Strategy - Dual Drawings
Here at Glen Allan we are aimed at enhancing capacity to nurture emotional resilience and well-being among students. We are actively involved in collaborating with our staff to introduce effective regulation strategies and deepen understandings of brain development. We continue to work on integrating these strategies into everyday classroom practices. This weeks strategy is Dual Drawings.
With a partner and one sheet of paper, take turns drawing a line or shape, silently passing the paper back and forth for one minute. When the minute is up, talk, laugh and explore what you've created together. This is a fun way to build cooperation and collaboration!
