New Glen Allan Playground
We are so excited to share the design for the new playground. Construction is scheduled to begin the day after school is over for the summer; fingers crossed it is ready when school resumes in the fall. Thank you, thank you, thank you to our Glen Allan School Council (GASC) and to our school and greater community for making this happen! We are so excited!
Upcoming Promotional Video Filming at the School
Elk Island Public Schools is working with an external provider, Orange Fountain, to conduct a video shoot of staff and students for upcoming promotional video projects. Glen Allan Elementary has been selected as one of the filming locations—a film crew will visit the school on Wednesday, April 16.
Parents and caregivers of students in classes that’ve been asked to participate in the filming will be sent a consent form soon. You’ll receive the form through Permission Click, so keep an eye on your inbox! More details of what to expect will be included in the message sent with the form.
Get ready for kindergarten
Do you have a child registered in kindergarten next year? If so, make sure to attend Glen Allan's upcoming Kindergarten Information Night on Monday, May 12 5:00-6:00pm. You’ll get to:
- tour the school;
- meet the teachers;
- gain insight on play-based learning; and
- see what a typical day looks like.
Kindergarten Information Night 2025:

A big THANK YOU to EIPS Volunteers
National Volunteer Week takes place April 27 to May 4. On behalf of the Board of Trustees at Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS), I want to say a giant thank you to all EIPS volunteers. This year’s theme is Volunteers Make Waves, and that’s certainly true in our Division. No matter whether you’ve chaperoned a field trip, helped out at a hot lunch day or provided support in a classroom—every time you’ve stepped in a school—you’ve made a ripple effect that washes over your community. These waves of positivity, hard work and dedication build up and make a momentous impact on a student’s experience at school.
So, thank you again for being a part of our ocean at EIPS. The waves you’ve made—and will continue to create—all contribute to our collective goals of ensuring learning and working environments sustain student learning and amplifying the importance of public education in our province. This National Volunteer Week, I encourage everyone to celebrate the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of hours put into supporting student growth and achievement at schools across the Division.

OPPORTUNITY
Regulation Strategy - Finger Tapping and Breathing
Here at Glen Allan we are aimed at enhancing capacity to nurture emotional resilience and well-being among students. We are actively involved in collaborating with our staff to introduce effective regulation strategies and deepen understandings of brain development. We continue to work on integrating these strategies into everyday classroom practices. This weeks strategy is Finger Tapping and Breathing.
With both hands at the same time, begin with your thumb and first finger (pointer finger) and tap fingers from the first finger to pinky as you tap all four fingers, you take a long inhale and as you tap back to the thumb and first finger, take a long exhale. Repeat the tapping and breathing for one minute. This breathing exercise is a great strategy to use if you are overwhelmed at your desk during class.
